The dream of having a secure digital world in the age of information technology has become a global concern. Many solutions have appeared within the last few years to solve the problems of security and digital threats. However, the world still suffers from security leaks and all current security solutions cannot promise to reach an optimum state. This project proposes a new solution that promises to provide a new age of security solutions for web applications. The proposed solution is a web application firewall that utilises the power of artificial intelligence to achieve a state of maximum performance. The proposed firewall operates in three modes of security: positive logic based filtering, negative logic based filtering, and session based filtering. There are two concepts of artificial intelligence will be used in this solution. They are artificial neural networks and fuzzy logic. Moreover, the combined technology of fuzzy-neural networks will be implemented. The proposed solution is a complete security package to secure the top level of a web application, which is the Application layer. The focus on the Application layer is because statistics show that around 70% of daily attacks occur at the Application Level of web applications representation. The result of this project will be an open source hybrid intelligent web application firewall that can be installed as a reverse proxy firewall to secure large-scale web applications, particularly electronic government web applications. However, this security solution can be implemented on a wide range of web applications technologies, such as e-commerce, banks, military web applications, and enterprise web applications.
