Prior to returning to university in 2003, Dr Haffegee spent 11 years performing research and software development within the telecommunications industry. Having first completed an MSc in Network Centred Computing, he has recently completed his PhD as a member of the Advanced Computing and Emerging Technologies (ACET) group. His current research interest involves Virtual Reality, in particular Collaborative Virtual Environments (CVEs) hosted in immersive systems such as our ReaCTor CAVE-like system and powerwall. For his PhD research, Adrian worked on VieGen, the Virtual Interactive Environment Generator. This framework provides a number of tools and utilities that allow developers of all experience levels to create their own Virtual Interactive Environments, and which is currently seeing use within industry, academia and the arts. Watch this space for more upcoming news on VieGen! In addition to the work on VieGen, Adrian has various other interests including collaborative working environments (ideally with a VR slant) and their various networked considerations, and has dabbled with bringing the Magic Roundabout into the world of Augmented Reality. |
