The NaradaBrokering Chat and Video System provides a collaborative environment with chat and video conferencing sessions with either worksite users or external participants. It is designed as a JSR-168 compliant portlet and utilises NaradaBrokering and the Java Media Framework. Video conferencing sessions are transmitted as H.264 video streams over RTP. The Chat portlet emulates the popular IRC.
The DSG has been developing is the NaradaBrokering-based chat and video conferencing system. It is intended that the system will aid users of the VRE to collaborate and interact from a portal level. The prototype system will allow participants to join and correspond in chat rooms and start up video conferencing sessions with multiple participants.
