Abstract:

e-Research is becoming pervasive within University research and Reading is no exception. There have been a number of exciting developments in Reading this year with the launch of THAMESBLUE and e-Research South.

In this talk I will introduce some of the recent new developments in Reading’s e-Research community. I will then go on to talk about the Campus Grid: the technologies involved and the work which has been undertaken over the summer to upgrade the Campus Grid. This includes the introduction of a system to allow users to easily run their Matlab and R code on the Campus Grid. Other developments include the support for checkpointing and a greatly upgraded central infrastructure.
