Abstract:
Machine virtualization has been around for decades but has regained interest in recent years. Virtual machines are being used to improve system utilization, assist in system management, and provide fault tolerance through virtual machine migration. There has also been an interest in the High Performance Computing (HPC) community to leverage these capabilities to address some challenges associated with large scale systems. This talk will provide an overview of system-level virtualization and discuss recent work stemming from our efforts into virtualization for HPC.
